2011 Stage One

There is always a good crash on the first stage of the Tour. While Bernard Eisel get the ignominious recognition as the first rider to fall (I loved the totally embarrassed look on his face as he got back up), the crash that mattered happened about 11k from the finish and split the field. The big losers on the day were Alberto Contador and Levi Leipheimer who lost almost two minutes to their main rivals.

The big fantasy winner today is Team Leftovers 1. Phillipe Gilbert scoring the stage win and the overall lead in the yellow and green jersey competitions.
