2012 TOUR DE FRANCE
Its July which means that my family will be looking here to see who wins the annual Bolander Tour De France fantasy cycling competition. This year we did something a little different. We allowed everyone to pick their own team. In years past everyone has had their riders assigned to them after Mom and I were done picking the best riders for our team. Now no one can whine about how they were left out of the decision making process. If your team stinks its your own damn fault.
We also altered the rules to make it more interesting. Here is the rundown of how this year works:
Stage Finishes - The first ten riders across the finish line are awarded points based on their placing. 10 points for first place through 1 point for 10th place.
Intermediate Sprints and Climbs - This year we have added points for the first five riders through an intermediate sprint or climb. Five points for first place through one point for fifth place.
Jersey Bonuses - this year a rider is limited to one ten point bonus per jersey. So if a rider wins the yellow jersey and holds it for seven days he only gets one ten point bonus. Likewise, if a rider gets the yellow jersey looses it and then regains it another day he still would only get one ten point bonus. Yellow, Green and Polka-Dot jerseys get ten point bonuses. The White jersey gets a five point bonus.
As always the tam with the most pints when the race concludes in Paris is the winner.
